DQ-View: Is Data Quality the Sun?

Data Quality (DQ) View is an OCDQ regular segment.  Each DQ-View is a brief video discussion of a data quality key concept.

DataQualityPro

This recent tweet by Dylan Jones of Data Quality Pro succinctly expresses a vitally important truth about the data quality profession.

Although few would debate the necessary requirement of skill, some might doubt the need for passion.  Therefore, in this new DQ-View segment, I want to discuss why data quality initiatives require passionate data professionals.

Jim,

Tis a most enjoyable video thou created. To be, or not to be - a data quality enthusiast or a data quality grump?

Let's get the word out: Data Quality is Important!

. . . and it is more than just a "dude in a dress" - Great line!

@Larisa — “I am not of many words, but I thank you” for your comment.

We must indeed get the word out that Data Quality is Important - “Poor quality! Thou art poison to our data!”

And special thanks to @JoeMako for tweeting a quote from the video:

“What light through Data Gazing window breaks, it is the Data, and Data Quality is the Sun”

"A pretty man is still a dude wearing a dress" - classic.

It's crazy to think that I live in the village where Shakespeare got it together with his lover but I still learn more about him when I watch your DQ vids, that says something about both our literary education!

As ever, deep gratitude for sharing a link out to my daily ramblings.

Hi Jim,

Excellent Video Blog...

Championship of the CAUSE is more challenging than sponsorship of the PROJECT...

I like that... wrote it down, and said it 5 times :)

Me thinks that Data Quality has merit for those who art worthy of the quest. (my old D&D days vs. Shakespeare ) ...

Keep up the good info Jim, appreciate it all...

@Dylan — Yes, it is funny how so many people didn't know that bit of trivia about women being barred from the stage during Shakepeare's time, even though it was a key plot point in the popular movie Shakespeare in Love :-)

@Garnie — Yes, that is a great quote by Jill Wanless from her recent Data Quality Pro webinar.
